Health Behavior Science examines how personal characteristics (such as race, age, abilities, and knowledge), social influences (like peer networks), and environmental conditions (including park accessibility and workplace wellness initiatives) impact health and wellness throughout life. Our focus is on encouraging healthy habits and decreasing disease prevalence by creating, implementing, and assessing health initiatives that modify behaviors for individuals and specific groups. To boost career prospects, students must either choose a minor in a relevant field or specialize in Health and Disability studies. Graduates of this program are equipped for roles in health education, community wellness, corporate health programs, fitness coaching, and further studies in public health, rehabilitation sciences, medical assisting, or nursing. The curriculum concludes with a practical internship to facilitate the transition from academia to professional settings.
