UD's Early Childhood Education program equips students to support young learners—both typically developing and those with special needs—in achieving their highest potential. Alumni pursue careers as educators in public and private institutions, early intervention specialists, child advocates, or professionals at community service organizations. The curriculum emphasizes developmental milestones, training future educators to select suitable teaching approaches and resources tailored to individual children's social, intellectual, and motor development needs. Through hands-on training at our on-campus children's facilities and local partner institutions, students work with diverse populations including children with special requirements. Graduates leave as qualified practitioners, certified to teach in dual disciplines: Early Childhood Education (birth through 2nd grade) and Early Childhood Special Education. This NAEYC-accredited blended program (among only a handful nationwide) ensures graduates meet certification standards across all U.S. states.
