Biochemistry examines the chemical changes and complex interactions occurring within living systems. Students in our program employ chemical principles to investigate core biological mechanisms, including metabolic pathways, protein formation and modification, pharmaceutical compound development, healthcare applications, and more. Biochemists conduct experiments, perform analyses, and study biological systems - either directly or through chemical simulations - by isolating natural compounds, reproducing biological reactions, and designing specialized molecular solutions. Biochemical principles form the foundation for numerous health-related applications, from disease diagnosis to medical innovation. As an interdisciplinary field, biochemistry offers diverse career paths in established areas and growing industries like molecular biology, nanoscale biotechnology, drug discovery, green chemistry, computational biochemistry, and next-generation production methods.
