Biochemistry, the study of chemical processes in living organisms, explores the fundamental building blocks and mechanisms of life. Researchers in this field examine the molecular basis of key biological functions like gene expression regulation and cellular growth controlled by hormones. Understanding these molecular foundations enables us to comprehend life's workings and address core biological challenges.
Within our Biochemistry Department, traditionally part of the College of Agriculture, students benefit from personalized faculty guidance through intimate class settings and academic support. A distinctive feature of our curriculum is its emphasis on practical research experience and analytical reasoning. Every department student engages in faculty-mentored undergraduate research projects.
Additionally, qualified students may pursue a five-year combined degree with biological engineering after gaining admission to the College of Engineering.
