The Bachelor of Music (B.M.) in Applied Music prepares students for professional careers as musicians or music professors in higher education. This specialized program focuses on cultivating exceptional musical skills on a primary instrument while fostering academic excellence and professional standards. Admission to the B.M. in Applied Music requires an audition on one of the approved instruments, including woodwinds, brass, strings, percussion, piano, classical guitar, harp, or voice.
The curriculum features intensive training in music theory, ear training, music history, piano proficiency, and private lessons, complemented by advanced electives like counterpoint, keyboard harmony, jazz theory, and specialized seminars. Students also study musical repertoire through advanced literature courses and gain performance experience in ensembles, opera productions, chamber groups, competitions, festivals, and recitals.
Upon completing the program, graduates will: Exhibit technical mastery and artistic depth in guitar performances, informed by theoretical, historical, and cultural understanding.
