The Latin American and Iberian Studies program examines the history, geography, political systems, literary works, artistic expressions, and cultural traditions of Latin America and the Iberian Peninsula. Our curriculum explores diverse subjects such as native civilizations, colonial influences, national identity movements, liberal ideologies, global interconnectedness, along with challenges related to gender, racial equity, and socioeconomic disparities. This interdisciplinary program equips learners with both practical skills and conceptual frameworks essential for academic pursuits and professional engagement in our interconnected 21st-century world. Those pursuing a major or minor in Latin American and Iberian Studies must develop proficiency in Spanish or Portuguese that exceeds the standard Arts and Sciences college requirements.
