The English major provides a versatile, interdisciplinary curriculum that equips students for diverse career opportunities in fields such as business, law, government, science, the arts, healthcare, education, and digital media. Students develop essential skills in clear writing, persuasive communication, and critical reading - all vital attributes for professional leadership positions.

Our undergraduate program offers substantial flexibility. The curriculum begins with three foundational courses (totaling nine credits) selected from key study areas: Literary History, Textual Analysis and Production, and Cultural Diversity. Students then work closely with departmental advisors to select eight additional courses (24 credits) from our extensive offerings. The program culminates in a senior-year capstone experience, with options including an internship, portfolio project, symposium presentation, independent study or thesis (three credits), or student teaching for those pursuing English Education.
