The College of Agriculture and Natural Resources provides a two-year Associate in Science (AS) program based in Newark. This program suits students passionate about agriculture who seek a shorter degree path or are undecided about further education. The admission criteria mirror those of the bachelor's degree program.
The AS program features a highly adaptable course structure. Students need to complete at least 62 credit hours, with a minimum of 30 credits spread across four of the college's five departments. At least 32 credits must be obtained through University of Delaware coursework. Graduates must maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA. Applicants must submit their degree request during their final term of study while actively enrolled in the college.
While possible, it's not advisable for students to focus exclusively on agricultural courses for all 62 credits. A more balanced approach includes combining agriculture studies with foundational courses in physical sciences, social sciences, English, and mathematics. This strategy better prepares students for potential future enrollment in a Bachelor of Science program.
