Pursuing a UD Middle Childhood Education/Intervention Specialist degree equips you with essential teaching strategies to guide students through their formative years into early adolescence. You'll focus on two specialized subjects, selecting from math, reading/language arts, science, or social studies, while also obtaining a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) certification. Students benefit from exceptional facilities including a dedicated STEM lab and Curriculum Materials Center.
Practical training starts in your first year with classroom observations and field placements, continuing through years two and three. The program provides over 600 hours of hands-on experience in nearby schools - doubling Ohio's 300-hour minimum requirement. Your final year culminates in a full-time student teaching placement, complete with mentoring and assessment to foster your professional growth as an educator.
