The Master of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT) program at The University of Connecticut equips future athletic trainers with expertise in injury prevention, clinical assessment, emergency care, therapeutic interventions, and rehabilitation for active individuals. This comprehensive curriculum also covers organizational management, administrative skills, and professional ethics in athletic training.

This graduate-level program is tailored for individuals with an undergraduate degree pursuing athletic training certification. Spanning two years, the 53-credit curriculum commences each May.

Prospective students interested in pursuing the Professional Master of Science in Athletic Training program must meet the following prerequisites:
Must have earned a bachelor's degree in any discipline
Transcript verification that the following college courses have been completed within the past (7) years:
Biology with a lab
Human Anatomy & Physiology I & II* (both with labs)
(*The requirement for Human Anatomy and Physiology I & II can be substituted with separate Human Anatomy and Human Physiology courses)
Chemistry with lab
Physics with lab
Psychology
Statistics
Nutrition
Exercise Science or Exercise Physiology
Cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0 (3.0 GPA in last 2 years of undergraduate work)
*GRE Exam Scores are NOT required. They have been waived.

The statement is important aspect of the application, as it is the chance for the program faculty to learn more about you and your reasons for applying to the program. The statement should define your characteristics as a person and a future health care provider. The MS in Athletic Training program is rigorous and time intensive, thus students are encouraged to reflect on their strengths and ability to succeed.
Minimum overall scores of 79 (Internet-based test iBT/ iBT Home Edition), 550 (Old Paper-based test PBT) or 22/30 on each of the Listening, Reading, and Writing sections (New Paper-based test- PBT) or higher on the TOEFL test. (TOEFL Essentials is not accepted.)
A minimum overall score of 6.5 or higher on the IELTS Academic Test
A minimum overall score of 53 or higher on the PTE Test.
