The Department of Kinesiology provides a Master of Science program with five specialized tracks. Graduates secure positions throughout the Bay Area, California, nationwide, and internationally, while many others gain admission to prestigious doctoral programs in the US and Canada.
Students in Kinesiology examine human motion and physical activity in both professional and recreational contexts. Career outcomes include roles as athletic directors, trainers, coaches, educators, fitness instructors, and sports administrators, with some pursuing medical degrees or advanced studies in physical therapy. As a founding member of the American Kinesiology Association, our department maintains a strong reputation within the CSU system and the broader field of kinesiology and health professions. Undergraduate options include kinesiology and teaching degrees, while the master's program offers concentrations in exercise physiology, sport management, sport studies, and other specialized areas.

Qualification Requirements

U.S. bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution, or the completion of a 4-year bachelor’s degree from a recognized, accredited, and approved institution from a country outside of the U.S. A 2.5 GPA (from the 0.0-4.0 U.S. grading scale) in the last degree completed or a 2.5 GPA in the last two years of full-time study.
