A human rights graduate certificate enables students to build expertise in human rights principles and applications through courses instructed by distinguished faculty from multiple UConn schools, including Liberal Arts and Sciences, Education, Law, and Social Work. This 12-credit program (comprising 1 foundational course and 3 electives) suggests starting with core studies before selecting specialized electives. Foundational courses examine key historical, philosophical, and legal aspects of human rights, while electives explore specialized areas like indigenous rights, economic justice, and regional human rights frameworks in Latin America and Europe. Most certificate courses have no prerequisites, with the exception of Advanced Constitutional Law as noted.
