UConn's industrial and organizational psychology program focuses on studying and implementing psychological techniques and theories to analyze workplace behavior.
Professors collaborate directly with students to create tailored academic paths and research opportunities centered on either personnel management and organizational psychology or human factors and workplace design. Students frequently gain additional proficiency in statistical analysis techniques and workplace mental health studies.
Graduate students pursuing a Ph.D. in psychological sciences at UConn can specialize in industrial and organizational (I/O) psychology. This concentration emphasizes using psychological approaches to examine professional environments and employee behavior. Participants collaborate with faculty to design customized curricula and research projects focusing on two primary specializations:
Workforce management and organizational behavior
Human-centered design and workplace optimization
The program also offers optional graduate certificates in workplace wellness, advanced statistical methods, or health psychology.
