The Health Promotion Sciences PhD program equips you for advanced careers in research, academia, consulting, policy formulation, or leadership positions centered on health behavior factors, wellness promotion, and early disease prevention. Through rigorous coursework, independent studies, and faculty mentorship, you'll gain the expertise to excel in diverse environments such as academic institutions, health promotion organizations across all sectors, healthcare providers, and corporate settings.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Candidates must possess at least an undergraduate degree, with a graduate degree in a relevant discipline being preferred. Priority consideration will be given to applicants holding professional health certifications. Competitive applicants should demonstrate:
a proven dedication to health promotion through academic, professional, or community engagement
research proficiency shown via thesis-based graduate work, publications, or detailed research descriptions in their application essay
substantial statistical training
alignment between their research focus and faculty expertise
