Pacemakers, lasers, life support systems, and medical imaging technologies all originate from the collaborative efforts of biomedical engineering teams. Biomedical Engineering integrates core principles from engineering, biology, and medicine. Students in this interdisciplinary field enhance health care by employing analytical and experimental methods to address medical challenges. These engineers examine biological systems and utilize this understanding to create medical equipment and assess innovative diagnostic tools and treatments for repairing or replacing damaged organs. People typically select this engineering discipline because they aspire to work in healthcare and wish to contribute to helping others.

The educational goals for the Biomedical Engineering undergraduate program are that our graduates will: pursue professional careers as biomedical engineers or scientists in health-related environments, progress in their professional roles, and participate in ongoing professional development or pursue advanced education to further their growth in biomedical engineering or associated disciplines.
