The Dietetics Coordinated Program integrates classroom instruction with hands-on training at various off-campus locations, including community settings, clinical environments, and food service facilities. This comprehensive approach equips students to take the National Registered Dietitian Examination after graduation, a mandatory step for becoming certified dietitians. The program holds accreditation from the American Dietetic Association's Commission on Accreditation/Approval for Dietetics Education. Before graduating, each student accumulates over 900 hours of supervised practical experience. Field experience is a crucial component of the Dietetics curriculum, with students encouraged to maximize their practical training through both the Coordinated Program and dietetic internships. Active involvement in diverse professional organizations is vital for aspiring dietitians, and informational interviews with practicing professionals can provide valuable career insights.

Participants in the Dietetics Coordinated Program complete their degree in May of their final year but must subsequently undertake a 6-credit externship to obtain the verification statement confirming fulfillment of all academic and practical requirements. This document enables graduates to take the national registration exam, necessary for achieving Registered Dietitian status. The intensive externship involves six weeks of full-time supervised practice (40 hours weekly). Students enroll for this experience as non-degree candidates, which involves additional tuition costs.
