The Urban and Community Studies undergraduate program offers an interdisciplinary curriculum within the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, designed to teach students about various aspects of urban living while equipping them for public service careers or advanced studies in fields like social work, urban planning, law, public health, and related disciplines.
This program consists of three key components. Initially, students gain comprehensive knowledge about urban environments, suburban areas, and community dynamics through foundational courses spanning multiple disciplines including Economics, Geography, History, Political Science, and Sociology. Next, they develop essential analytical skills through training in statistical methods, research techniques, GIS applications, and both qualitative and quantitative approaches. The program concludes with elective courses that allow students to expand their knowledge base or focus on specific areas of interest.
