Sociology equips students with knowledge about social systems, group dynamics, cultural patterns, and the analytical frameworks used to examine them.
Those studying sociology can participate in Alpha Kappa Delta, the campus's sociology and law society. Upperclassmen may opt for service learning courses or local internships in West Lafayette/Lafayette. Aspiring legal professionals in sociology are welcome to join Purdue's Pre-Law Club. The department also collaborates with the Social Research Institute.
Like all liberal arts disciplines, sociology develops essential management skills: effective communication, interpersonal awareness, innovative thinking, solution-oriented approaches, and synthesizing multifaceted concepts.

All students who plan to attend Purdue University are required to provide official, final transcripts. SAT or ACT scores with writing is strongly encouraged for international citizens.
