Ethnic Studies explores race and ethnicity through an interdisciplinary lens, examining these issues across local, national, and worldwide perspectives. Recent developments have highlighted systemic racial and ethnic disparities in the U.S., prompting various sectors to respond. Companies are implementing diversity programs, climate scientists are investigating how environmental changes unequally affect marginalized communities, educators seek solutions for racial gaps in education, and healthcare professionals aim to better serve BIPOC populations. A graduate certificate in Ethnic Studies equips both scholars and practitioners with valuable frameworks to integrate racial and social justice perspectives into their work. This program provides two specialization options: an academic route and a professional application route. The academic option readies students for doctoral studies in Ethnic Studies or for incorporating ethnic studies approaches within conventional academic fields, ideal for those pursuing academic careers. The professional option develops skills to recognize and tackle racial inequities across various sectors, catering to careers in K-12 education, university administration, activism, public service, media, environmental research, global business, healthcare, law, library sciences, arts, and publishing.
