The Engineering and Applied Science PhD program is a cutting-edge interdisciplinary initiative structured to reflect contemporary research practices. Candidates select a main focus area from participating departments in the College of Engineering, Design and Computing, paired with a secondary specialization in either engineering or another discipline across CU Denver's academic units.
This interdisciplinary PhD in Engineering and Applied Science, administered by the College of Engineering, Design and Computing, requires both primary and secondary areas of focus. Prospective students apply through one of four departments - known as the host department - determined by their chosen primary field of research.

Qualification Requirements

Statement of purpose must be an original essay submitted with application. Scanned copies will not be accepted for submission.
Resume must be submitted with application
Bioengineering applicants must complete essay questions and an application background survey.
Official transcripts we require one official copy of each previous transcript.
Letters of recommendation two are required, except for Bioengineering, which requires three letters of recommendation.
Official GRE scores the college has removed the evaluation of GRE scores for admission decisions.
