The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) partnered with the Colorado School of Public Health (CSPH) to establish the undergraduate Public Health program. Public health experts focus on safeguarding the environment, detecting disease origins within communities, managing epidemics, assessing economic effects of demographic shifts, designing health promotion strategies, and shaping health policy laws. This field integrates knowledge from multiple disciplines including social sciences, behavioral sciences, and natural sciences, each contributing distinct perspectives to public health initiatives.
The BS program allows students to specialize in natural sciences and public health. Graduates with this degree gain preparation for advanced studies in various fields such as natural sciences, social sciences, behavioral sciences, public health, healthcare professions, business, and health services research. This program particularly benefits students aiming for careers in public health, primary care medicine, nursing, or health policy and administration.
Public health professionals dedicate themselves to environmental protection, disease source identification, outbreak containment, demographic impact analysis, health behavior interventions, and policy development.
