The University of Houston stands among a select group of U.S. institutions providing a Bachelor of Science in Health with a Public Health concentration. This program delivers essential coursework for securing entry-level positions in public health across government entities, healthcare corporations, nonprofit community organizations, and medical facilities. By blending the Public Health Core curriculum with Health Promotion Specialization and elective health courses, it creates diverse career pathways for Public Health students. The program incorporates fundamental principles and skills recognized as vital for undergraduate public health education by leading national associations like the Association for Prevention, Teaching, and Research and the American Public Health Association. Graduates gain excellent preparation for the Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) examination. Additionally, the program functions as a pipeline for advanced studies within our College of Education, nearby Schools of Public Health, and professional health programs throughout the Texas Medical Center and across the state.
