The Ethnic Studies Bachelor of Arts program equips students to drive social change and tackle real-world challenges by deeply engaging with the intersecting histories and achievements of Black, Indigenous, and other Communities of Color (BIPOC). Graduates develop cultural awareness abilities that employers highly seek, particularly when serving diverse populations. Career paths for our alumni span multiple sectors such as: legal professions, education, media, advertising, activism, and human services.
Ethnic Studies curricula aim to equip liberal arts and sciences majors with comprehensive knowledge about ethnicity's role in modern America. These programs offer theoretical frameworks to analyze intergroup dynamics within the nation's multicultural landscape. When educational settings create supportive environments to examine America's diverse communities - not as societal issues but as sources of historical resilience and innovation - students gain essential skills for thriving in pluralistic workplaces and neighborhoods.
Through its interdisciplinary design, the ethnic studies curriculum enables scholarly exploration of America's rich cultural tapestry while building career-ready competencies. The program's cross-disciplinary, comparative framework teaches students to examine ethnic communities through multiple lenses - social, economic, political, and cultural - with particular focus on reclaiming marginalized narratives and artistic traditions.
