The LLM program at Colorado Law provides students with complete immersion in legal studies while ensuring equal access to academic resources, specialized courses, and the broader University of Colorado-Boulder campus. Our JD and LLM candidates collaborate and learn together in an integrated environment. Colorado Law values the distinctive perspectives and varied professional histories that LLM students bring, recognizing how these diverse backgrounds strengthen our academic community and enhance the institution's global scholarly influence. The LLM curriculum offers extensive course selections, allowing each student to tailor their studies to align with individual career goals and intellectual pursuits. Although the majority of classes occur within the law school, students may also enrich their legal education by enrolling in graduate-level courses across other University of Colorado-Boulder departments.
Recognized as #5 for environmental law in U.S. News & World Report's 2019 rankings, Colorado Law equips students to influence legal frameworks and policies across diverse sectors such as energy production, mineral extraction, environmental conservation, pollution control, and land stewardship. Students benefit from programming through the renowned Getches-Wilkinson Center, proximity to federal research facilities like the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, and connections to Colorado's dynamic energy sector—spanning emerging ventures to global corporations in traditional and renewable energy industries.
