The Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing pushes students to explore multiple writing styles while examining literature through a practitioner's lens. Alumni have emerged as accomplished writers across fiction, nonfiction, poetry, drama, and screenwriting, while others have pursued careers in journalism, publishing, editing, and education at both university and high school levels. This program concludes with students presenting and defending an original creative thesis focused on poetry or fiction. Those interested may tailor their studies toward nonfiction or scriptwriting with guidance from faculty specializing in these areas. Structured as a three-year course, the MFA emphasizes literary exploration, experimental approaches, and boundary-pushing creative expression.
