The MA program offers two concentrations tailored to equip graduates for various positions as teachers, activists, or policy specialists in educational settings, governmental bodies, research centers, advocacy groups, community initiatives, or universities: Community-Based Transformation and Policy Assessment.
Students will cultivate proficiency in policy examination, research methodologies, and program assessment, alongside specialized study areas like educational restructuring and fostering collaborations between local stakeholders and external partners. This curriculum particularly targets teachers, caregivers, and community leaders seeking to acquire competencies that empower them to champion fair, high-standard education.
Beyond policy scrutiny, research approaches, and program appraisal, participants will explore educational system transformation and the creation of more just educational frameworks. The curriculum readies assessment professionals and policy researchers for positions in higher education and state/national organizations. Alumni will possess the ability to scrutinize, propose, and assess governmental policies with efficacy.
Applicants must:
Hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university, or have done work equivalent to that required for such a degree.
Show promise of ability to pursue advanced study and research, as judged by the student’s scholastic record.
Have adequate preparation to enter graduate study in the chosen field. Have at least a 2.75 (2.00=C) undergraduate grade point average.
All international applicants are required to meet a minimum standard of English proficiency.
