Our physics graduate program ranks among the nation's most extensive and prestigious. Students can pursue cutting-edge research across virtually every physics discipline, spanning atomic/molecular/optical physics, condensed matter studies, particle physics, nuclear science, plasma research, biophysics, physics history and philosophy, and physics education research. We also provide interdisciplinary opportunities in astrophysics, chemical physics, and geophysics through collaborations with other university departments. A unique advantage of our program allows doctoral candidates to conduct their research at Boulder's renowned institutions like JILA, LASP (Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics), NCAR (National Center for Atmospheric Research), NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology), NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration), and NREL (National Renewable Energy Laboratory).
