Computer systems work involves designing and developing both hardware and software components, encompassing areas like architecture, operating systems, programming languages, security, and networking. Cyberphysical systems integrate computing technologies with physical systems like vehicles, infrastructure, and power grids. The Computer and Cyberphysical Systems Group offers instruction, performs research, and provides consulting services on diverse systems from software-defined radios to program analysis tools and compilers. The majority of systems faculty share a spacious collaborative workspace with their students. Together, they've built prototypes such as wildlife monitoring sensor networks, privacy-focused network solutions, automotive telematics systems, energy-efficient computing solutions for various environments, and scalable classification systems for secure video chat platforms.
