The Animals and Society Certificate explores the expanding interdisciplinary field focused on analyzing human-nonhuman animal connections across time and contexts - whether historical or modern, factual or symbolic, positive or negative. This program prioritizes social sciences and humanities coursework while offering natural science electives. Through its interdisciplinary lens, students examine animal experiences, human-animal bonds, ethical considerations, cultural depictions of animals, and their role in human development, history, and society.
