The Spanish department provides a Bachelor of Arts (BA) program with several specialization paths. Students can choose between language and literature studies, Spanish and Portuguese language and cultural studies, or an international Spanish track tailored for professional careers, incorporating subjects like business, economics, and mathematics. Initially, Spanish majors develop proficiency in writing and speaking to engage in analytical discussions and compose critical papers. Subsequently, they advance to interpreting complex Spanish texts capable of supporting literary critique. Beyond language skills, the curriculum explores the evolution of Spanish and Spanish-American literary works, introducing students to prominent authors. This literary education is complemented by examining the societal and historical influences that shaped these creative traditions.
Undergraduate international students are students who have completed a secondary school and are pursuing a bachelor’s degree, and who have or will be applying for a temporary U.S. Visa, such as an F-1 or J-1.
