CU Boulder's Bachelor of Arts in Cinema Studies & Moving Image Arts focuses on analyzing film as an artistic medium. This critical studies program provides students with comprehensive understanding of global cinema history and visual aesthetics, along with different academic approaches to film analysis. The curriculum combines movie screenings, scholarly texts, and lectures, requiring students to hone their analytical abilities through written work and classroom debates. Similar to other Arts and Humanities degrees, this cinema studies BA prioritizes developing two essential competencies: analytical reasoning and writing proficiency. While these skills are cultivated through film analysis, they have wide-ranging applications outside cinema studies. Students can alternatively choose a production-focused BA track. The program currently has about 425 enrolled majors.
