CCM Sound Design's BFA and MFA programs emphasize practical learning through direct experience with industry-standard techniques and tools.
The CCM Sound Design curriculum explores diverse aspects of performing arts. While technical aspects support sound design, the program prioritizes creative application of these tools. The emphasis lies in storytelling rather than equipment. Starting with foundational training in audio technology and theater production, students progress to courses covering script analysis, theatrical design, theater history, art, music, system design, and sound design principles - including collaborative processes with directors and production teams.
Coursework examines sound perception, digital audio, sound effects, music editing, and reinforcement methods. Students with musical training are welcome to compose original scores when suitable for productions.
