The Geography Department offers two MA degree paths: a fast-track one-year non-thesis program and a traditional two-year thesis-based program. The non-thesis option is designed for geography undergraduates seeking immediate career entry after earning their master's. The thesis track better suits students aiming for PhD studies or those needing more foundational coursework across two years. Both programs demand comprehensive knowledge of geography, emphasizing the department's specialties in economic, urban, and historical-cultural geography. A physical geography concentration exists with modified requirements. All candidates must complete core courses, pursue supplementary studies in their focus areas (including interdisciplinary options), and either defend a thesis or complete a research paper with field work (non-thesis path).
