The Department of Operations, Business Analytics and Information Systems (OBAIS) at the University of Cincinnati welcomes outstanding students passionate about diverse research areas and aspiring to academic careers as researchers or professors, or to applied research roles in institutions like research hospitals or public laboratories.

Our PhD program enrolls students across three specialized fields, encouraging interdisciplinary collaboration with OBAIS faculty and scholars from other departments.

Business Analytics emphasizes three core methodologies: applied statistics, simulation, and optimization with decision analysis. Faculty explore advanced techniques in data mining, longitudinal studies, computer simulation, integer programming, and stochastic optimization to address challenges across various industries.
Information Systems examines both human behavior and technical systems, investigating technology adoption, organizational software efficiency, and innovations in database management and technical deployments.
Operations Management studies production and service systems, covering supply chain logistics, transportation networks, service quality, healthcare operations, and strategies for aligning capacity with demand.

The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is required for all applicants whose native language is other than English. Official scores from the Educational Testing Service must be submitted before an admissions decision can be made. Copies of test scores are not acceptable. Presently, the minimum TOEFL score acceptable for graduate work in the College of Business is 100 internet-based (250 computer-based or 600 paper-based). The average TOEFL score for doctoral students is 111 internet- based (273 computer-based or 640 paper-based).
