The UC Clermont Pre-Elementary program prepares future educators for teaching children from kindergarten to fifth grade. This program equips aspiring early childhood teachers with knowledge about the intricate social and human aspects of child education, while promoting inclusive practices that foster diversity and establish a basis for continuous learning. While a bachelor's degree in education is mandatory for teaching certification, UC Clermont provides foundational first and second-year courses, with students typically transferring to Northern Kentucky University to finish their bachelor's degree requirements.

Qualification Requirements

This program is open to all students with a high school diploma or GED and the desire to succeed in college. Although admission is open, students accepted into the program must meet the academic standards of the program to advance to upper levels of study.

As a first-year student, you will need to take an English and mathematics placement test if you have not obtained the minimum ACT/SAT score required for exemption.
Proof of English Ability Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
Duolingo: 100 overall, 100 Production score, 100 Conversation
TOEFL: 79 iBT, 15 sub-score, 20 - writing, 20 - speaking
Cambridge: 176, recommended exam - C1 Advanced
IELTS: 6.5 overall, 5.5 sub-score, 6 - writing, 6 - speak
SAT-I: 480 evidenced-based reading & writing
ELS: 112 graduation
