The Master of Divinity (MDiv) is a three-year, cohort-style program open to students of diverse faiths pursuing careers in public religious leadership, spanning traditional ministry roles to innovative leadership models. Field education is integrated throughout all three years.
The curriculum requires at least 29 courses, covering subjects like Theology in the Public Square, scripture/history of the student's selected tradition, weekly reflection seminars, and The Arts of Ministry series. Field education remains a continuous component across all program years.
Participants acquire foundational skills in a pertinent textual language (e.g., Koine Greek, Biblical Hebrew, Quranic Arabic, Sanskrit, or Tibetan), applying this knowledge in scripture analysis or textual interpretation courses.
The program allows for cross-registration at affiliated seminaries or theological schools to deepen studies in a particular religious tradition.
Applicants to our graduate and professional programs are expected to be enrolled in or to have completed a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent from an accredited college or university. Applicants from a three-year bachelor’s program will be given due consideration. Because all of our programs feature competitive admission, no particular academic degree or background will guarantee admission to one of our graduate divisions.
