Students pursuing an MD/MA in Public Policy at the University of Chicago usually finish their initial three years of medical studies before taking a year off to focus entirely on graduate coursework at the Harris School of Public Policy. After this policy-focused year, MD/MA candidates resume their medical training at the Pritzker School of Medicine to complete their last clinical year. In this final phase of medical school, students have the option to take supplementary elective courses at the policy school. Most MD/MA candidates successfully complete both degree programs within a five-year timeframe.
