The Music faculty, ranked 2nd out of 65 programs evaluated by the National Research Council, boasts an impressive roster including a Pulitzer Prize-winning composer, a Grammy recipient, and a MacArthur Fellow. Their expertise spans from medieval music and liturgical studies to contemporary atonal pitch theory. The curriculum encompasses music history, theory, ethnomusicology, and composition, offering courses on Western music's evolution, analytical techniques, global music traditions, and compositional fundamentals. Students examine musical structures, harmonic progression, historical movements, popular music studies, digital composition, and diverse regional styles. Departmental honors are frequently earned through substantial BA theses or original compositions. A growing number of undergraduates opt for the music minor, while all students benefit from specialized facilities like the computer music lab and dedicated practice spaces.
Students are required to have high school equivalent of US qualification.
Applicants are required to have score of 100 or higher on the Internet-Based TOEFL or 600 or higher on the Paper-Based TOEFL. Minimum required scores on the IELTS are an overall score of 7.0, with subs cores of 7.0 each. The minimum acceptable score on the PTE is 70
