The Master of Social Work (MSW) degree equips you to become a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW), enabling you to offer mental health support to individuals, families, and communities. UCF provides multiple program options designed to accommodate your schedule and goals. Choose between an advanced standing path for recent BSW graduates from accredited programs or a traditional track for those holding bachelor's degrees in other fields. You can pursue your Master of Social Work either through online coursework or on-campus classes.
Field placements form the foundation of social work training. Our dedicated field education team matches you with internship opportunities, ensuring you gain vital real-world experience and supervised practice hours in both generalist and clinical social work settings. The UCF MSW program holds accreditation from the Council on Social Work Education and meets all Florida state licensure requirements.

Successful completion (with a grade of C or higher) of at least one course in each of the following categories:
Humanities (examples: fine arts, history, languages, literature, philosophy, or religion),
Physical and Biological Sciences (examples: biology, chemistry, anatomy, or physiology)
Mathematics (examples: calculus, college algebra, computer science, or statistics),
Social Sciences (examples: anthropology, economics, ethnic studies, gender studies, human development, international relations, political science, psychology, social work, or sociology)
The GRE is not required for admission to this program.

Three letters of recommendation that must have been written within the last academic year. Letters from co-workers, colleagues, mentors, friends, family members, clergy, etc. WILL NOT be considered. Please submit your application even if you do not have your letters of recommendation. These letters can be attached to your application once they have been received, but they still must be submitted by the application deadline. Applicants must provide a letter of recommendation from each of the following:
Academic: A professor from a previously attended college/university who taught you in a course. Letters from Field Seminar Instructors will not be accepted as academic letters. Recommendations from full-time faculty are strongly encouraged. Letters from advisors will not be considered unless indicated that they also taught you as a student.
Employment: Letter from immediate supervisor of either volunteer or paid work experience.
Third recommendation: A second academic or employment-based recommendation should be submitted for the third recommendation.
All applicants for graduate study at the University of Central Florida must hold a U.S. bachelor's degree, or its equivalent, from a regionally accredited or governmentally recognized institution of higher learning. This is the minimum requirement for admission to a graduate program at UCF. International students applying to programs requiring an outside Course-by-Course Evaluation with GPA calculation must submit a course-by-course evaluation of their official transcripts from a credential evaluation service recommended by UCF. This course-by-course evaluation must show a GPA that is equivalent to a 3.0 from an earned degree that is equivalent to a U.S. bachelor's degree.
