The Master of Education in Reading Education equips you for certification as a literacy specialist. This program follows the International Literacy Association's (2017) professional standards and emphasizes action research as a framework for teacher development.

Your studies will explore diverse subjects including reading acquisition processes, comprehensive reading assessments (screening, diagnostic, and progress monitoring), research-backed instructional methods, content-area reading strategies, digital literacy skills, coaching and leadership in literacy education, and current research trends. The program features real-time virtual office hours and chances to work alongside faculty on research projects. Additionally, you'll have platforms to co-present with faculty at academic events, such as UCF's annual Literacy Symposium.

Goal Statement
Possess or be fully eligible for a professional teaching certificate in one or more other teacher certification specializations in Florida.
Applicants applying to this program who have attended a college/university outside the United States must provide a course-by-course credential evaluation with GPA calculation.
All applicants for graduate study at the University of Central Florida must hold a U.S. bachelor's degree, or its equivalent, from a regionally accredited or governmentally recognized institution of higher learning. This is the minimum requirement for admission to a graduate program at UCF. International students applying to programs requiring an outside Course-by-Course Evaluation with GPA calculation must submit a course-by-course evaluation of their official transcripts from a credential evaluation service recommended by UCF. This course-by-course evaluation must show a GPA that is equivalent to a 3.0 from an earned degree that is equivalent to a U.S. bachelor's degree.
