The Master of Education in Reading Education equips you for certification as a literacy specialist. This program follows the International Literacy Association's (2017) professional standards and emphasizes action research as a framework for teacher development.
Your studies will explore diverse subjects including reading acquisition processes, comprehensive reading assessments (screening, diagnostic, and progress monitoring), research-backed instructional methods, content-area reading strategies, digital literacy skills, coaching and leadership in literacy education, and current research trends. The program features real-time virtual office hours and chances to work alongside faculty on research projects. Additionally, you'll have platforms to co-present with faculty at academic events, such as UCF's annual Literacy Symposium.
