The MEd in Exceptional Student Education program equips special education teachers to support Pre-K-12 students with disabilities. This graduate program is tailored for educators who already hold certification in exceptional student education (or related special education credentials) to further develop their expertise, competencies, and professional attitudes.
The Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Exceptional Student Education enhances the capabilities of certified special education teachers through advanced study. The 33-credit curriculum builds upon undergraduate studies, featuring a 3-credit research component, 24 credits of specialized coursework, and 6 credits for either a thesis or advisor-approved electives. Students must complete a Comprehensive Examination as their final program requirement. The specialization courses incorporate practical learning experiences like Individual Learning Projects, which develop research skills and implement action research in real-world educational settings.
