The Master of Arts in Spanish is designed for individuals seeking advanced study in the literature, linguistics, and cultural aspects of Spanish-speaking regions.
This program emphasizes the literary works, language structures, cultural traditions, and historical developments across Spain, Latin America, and U.S. Hispanic communities. Participants develop research capabilities, refine language proficiency, and gain academic perspectives on the cultural, literary, and linguistic dimensions of Spanish-speaking societies.
The Spanish MA program offers both thesis and non-thesis pathways. Degree candidates must complete either 36 credit hours without a thesis or 30 credit hours plus 6 thesis credits (minimum 3 credits). Students typically choose between Literature or Spanish Linguistics as their concentration after completing 9-18 credit hours in the program.
