The Master of Arts in English with a focus on Rhetoric and Composition equips students with theoretical knowledge and practical skills in professional writing for diverse workplace and academic contexts. This program establishes a strong grounding in Rhetoric and Writing Studies, enabling learners to employ ethical and rhetorical methods in research, create and evaluate multimodal texts, and investigate teaching practices in educational settings. Participants explore writing's role across digital, social, and historical contexts as a tool for creating meaning and driving transformation. Available both online and on-campus, our program prepares graduates for careers as writing experts in corporate or nonprofit sectors, college-level instruction, doctoral studies, or specialized professional objectives.

Graduates earn a Master of Arts in English degree, with both the general degree and Rhetoric and Composition specialization noted on their official transcripts.

Qualification Requirements

A bachelor's degree from an accredited U.S. institution recognized by UCF or its equivalent from a foreign institution.

GPA of 3.0 or more (on a 4.0 maximum) in all work attempted while registered as an undergraduate student OR while registered as an upper-division undergraduate student (normally based on the last sixty attempted semester hours).

OR, a graduate degree, professional degree or equivalent from an accredited U.S. institution recognized by UCF or its equivalent from a foreign institution in a field related to the discipline of the program to which the student is applying.

All applicants must upload a scanned copy, front and back, of their official transcript/academic record issued by the Registrar to their applicant status portal for each bachelor's, master's, professional, or doctoral degree earned or in progress. Scanned copies of the official transcripts are used for initial review by the graduate program faculty. Unofficial transcripts, grade audits and screen shots are not acceptable. TOEFL iBT score of 91, TOEFL PBT - 577, IELTS band score of 7.0
