The CACREP-accredited School Counseling specialization within the Master of Arts in Counselor Education program prepares students for professional certification as school counselors across all educational levels, from pre-kindergarten to postsecondary institutions.
This CACREP-approved School Counseling concentration in the Counselor Education MA degree caters to individuals holding bachelor's degrees in non-education fields who aspire to become certified school counselors in pre-K through higher education environments.
Emphasizing practical training, the School Counseling program allows students to fulfill their initial clinical practicum requirements at either public schools or UCF's Community Counseling and Research Center. All participants complete their culminating 600-hour internship in K-12 educational settings.
This School Counseling track in the Counselor Education MA program operates as a state-recognized initial educator preparation program, subject to modifications under Florida Administrative Code (State Board of Education Rule 6A-5.066). Enrolled students should maintain regular communication with their academic advisors to stay updated about any program adjustments necessitated by evolving state regulations.
