The Department of Anthropology provides a graduate program culminating in a Master of Arts degree in Anthropology. This comprehensive program incorporates all four anthropological subfields while emphasizing the department's specialized focus on archaeology, cultural anthropology, and biological anthropology. Following an apprenticeship approach, MA candidates work closely with their assigned graduate advisor, whose identity is disclosed upon program admission. Prospective students can explore faculty details on the UCF Department of Anthropology Faculty Page. Graduates emerge prepared to pursue doctoral studies or launch professional careers.
Anthropology MA candidates can choose between thesis and non-thesis tracks, both requiring a minimum of 30 credit hours (including 15 at the 6000-level). The thesis path suits those aiming for doctoral programs, while the non-thesis option better serves students transitioning directly into professional fields after completing their MA.
