The Security Studies PhD program prepares students to become experts who can assess and articulate security-related matters for policymakers, the public sector, government entities, and academic circles.

Numerous alumni pursue careers within military and government institutions, global enterprises, and security-focused organizations. Some graduates choose academic paths, engaging in research and instruction at universities.

The doctoral program requires completion of 56 credit hours post-master's degree. Admission mandates a master's degree with a minimum of 30 graduate-level credits (encompassing both course credits and thesis work). These 59 credits include 17 credits of core courses, 15 credits of specialized electives, 9 flexible elective credits (which may incorporate cross-departmental courses, research projects, independent studies, or internships), plus at least 15 dissertation research credits.
