The Psychology Department provides a Doctor of Philosophy in Clinical Psychology, training students in both the scientific foundations and practical applications of the field.
The Clinical Psychology specialization within the Psychology PhD Program follows the scientist-practitioner training approach endorsed by the American Psychological Association (APA). This Clinical Psychology doctoral program holds accreditation from the APA.
UCF's Clinical Psychology PhD Program prepares graduate students to combine scientific research with professional expertise, advancing psychological knowledge, clinical practice, and societal well-being. Graduates develop competencies to work as researchers, clinicians, or both, meeting psychology's highest professional standards (as outlined in the 1990 National Conference on Scientist-Practitioner Education). This generalist program focuses particularly on adult assessment and intervention, without specialized tracks (such as child psychology or neuropsychology). We actively promote diversity by welcoming students, faculty, and staff from varied backgrounds (including race, ethnicity, and sexual orientation). Our curriculum and clinical/research training incorporate cutting-edge findings relevant to working with diverse populations across treatment, research, and teaching contexts.
