The Kinesiology, PhD program aims to cultivate future educator-researchers and industry pioneers who will propel the field of kinesiology forward by investigating human motion, exercise physiology, athletic performance, sports medicine, and therapeutic recovery. Participants will gain expertise in performing studies, analyzing results, and implementing discoveries to enhance professional applications.

This doctoral program mandates at least 63 credit hours post-master's degree, comprising 24 credits of core research coursework, 24 credits of specialized electives, and 15 dissertation credits following candidacy approval. Achieving candidacy and finishing dissertation requirements depends on guidance from an approved faculty advisor.

Qualification Requirements

A master’s degree in a closely related field and master’s level competency in research and statistics. The GRE is not required for admission into this program. Two letters of recommendation from previous faculty or supervisors who can speak to the applicants ability to be sucessfull in graduate school. Goal statement. The statement should explain the motivation behind the pursuit of a doctoral degree in Kinesiology as well as any prior preparation and/or research experience. Future career goals after the completion of the applicant’s doctoral study should be discussed. Particular area(s) of research interest should be presented. At least one UCF faculty member in the School of Kinesiology and Rehabilitation Sciences who shares a similar research focus and is believed to be best suited to serve as a potential dissertation advisor must be identified. Resumé/vita reflecting relevant experience. Writing sample demonstrating the applicant’s ability to interpret and synthesize information relevant to the field of kinesiology. Applicants to this program, except those that have earned or will earn a Masters or Doctoral degree from an accredited U.S. institution recognized by UCF, who have attended a college/university outside the United States must provide a course-by-course credential evaluation with GPA calculation. Minimum UCF Requirement for TOEFL/IELTS TOEFL iBT score of 80 IELTS band score of 6.5
