The Integrative Anthropological Sciences PhD program focuses on interdisciplinary empirical studies of societal transformations across time. It combines STEM-based scientific and technological approaches with social science theories to tackle pressing societal issues.

The program structure includes: 1) a methodological core curriculum, 2) specialized courses on societal change processes, 3) integrated professional skill development, and 4) hands-on research experience. Its primary goal is to equip graduates with advanced methodological training and analytical capabilities to develop creative approaches addressing global inequalities, environmental challenges, and human population resilience.

Qualification Requirements

A master’s degree or its equivalent in Anthropology or a closely related discipline. A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 for all master’s level work completed. The GRE is not required for admission into this program A curriculum vitae. A writing sample of at least 2,500 words demonstrating the ability to conduct graduate-level work. Three letters of recommendation. An on campus, by phone or virtual interview with a potential advisor. Applicants to this program, except those that have earned or will earn a Masters or Doctoral degree from an accredited U.S. institution recognized by UCF, who have attended a college/university outside the United States must provide a course-by-course credential evaluation with GPA calculation. Credential evaluations are accepted from World Education Services (WES) or Josef Silny and Associates, Inc. only. International applicants whose first language is not English are required to submit results of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or other equivalent test approved by the Graduate College unless they hold a degree from a US accredited institution. The TOEFL is strongly preferred. The minimum TOEFL score for full admissions consideration is 90 on the Internet-based test (IBT), 232 on the computer-based test, or 575 on the paper-based test. The minimum IELTS score is 7.0.
