The Learning Sciences specialization is an interdisciplinary program within the Education PhD that introduces students to fundamental research concepts about learning, supplemented with advanced training in big data applications for learning analytics and machine learning studies. This pathway offers cross-disciplinary educational experiences (spanning cognitive science, computer science, data science, education, psychology, and statistics) for UCF graduate students pursuing careers in academic or corporate settings. While maintaining the foundational Education PhD curriculum, the program mandates a minimum of 9 credit hours in dedicated Learning Sciences coursework and 6 elective credits, enabling students to optionally obtain a human-machine learning certification. Such interdisciplinary preparation enhances professional prospects for research positions in both academic institutions and technology industries nationwide.
